What is usability and how can testing help?

My business, Insight International USA, LLC, work together with companies to develop successful usability strategies. Usability often refers to the extent to which a service is designed to fit customers' needs or is easy to use. When life is good, usability should be a part of a company's culture and be built around the true needs of a company's customers.

If you are in the process of re-developing your website (or product) considers the following tips:

Conduct Usability Testing and find out how your audience interacts with your website (or product).
Test your old design and test competitors design.
Create a paper design mock-up, test it, and get valid feedback.
Make sure you develop your site according to established usability guidelines.

10% of your budget in re-developing your website should be allocated straight to usability testing. Ideally, testing should be done early in the design stage and used to refine the website/application throughout the process.
