Economic and Social Development I would like to connect with those of you in international development. I was with the Danish Foreign Service/Danida for 20+ years, and now and independent consultant since 2000 with a number of contract assignments for the EC and the World Bank, mainly in transition countries.
The purpose would to share experiences both in the industry and the impact of our efforts. As we are contractors/sub-contractors, it is all very fragmented now, and there is no forum to discuss and develop skills/impact and conditions. Poverty and social justice among women and their children (and increasingly more men, especially young men) is still a major task to tackle.
The persistent and relatively weak position of women worldwide is of course also cultural and caused by religion. For those interested may I recommend the following two books for an introduction to the Goddess systems existing prior to the present patriarchal religious systems. The time has come to reconcile the female (pagan) and male systems (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Bhuddism, Hindu, Confucius), and create a new way of understanding ourselves and our world. 1. "When God Was A Woman" by Merling Stone; and 2. "The Great Cosmic Mother. Rediscovering the Religion of the Earth" by Monica Sjoo and Barbara Mor.
Look forward to hearing from you!
